The City of Kingston and Kingston Police remind new and returning post-secondary school community members to stay safe during their move-in and orientation activities.

鈥淜ingston Police recognizes that students, especially incoming first year students, are excited to take in the full post-secondary experience. We are here for you, and we strive to ensure that the safety of everyone in our community remains our paramount objective,鈥 says Kingston Police Staff Sergeant Carla Stacey. 

鈥淭he safety of the community is our number one priority. The provides us with an opportunity to work with our partners to educate students and property owners on the risks of large gatherings,鈥 says City of Kingston Licensing and Enforcement Manager Kyle Compeau.

In effect until Sept. 10 at 12 p.m., the UDSI supports community safety and mitigates risk associated with large gatherings. The City can also issue  (AMPs) for Nuisance Party and Noise Bylaws infractions.

Community members are encouraged to learn more about the municipal measures in place to discourage unsanctioned large gatherings and high-risk or disruptive behaviours by reading the Staff from both Bylaw Enforcement and Kingston Police will be in the community in the coming days sharing information about the USDI and answering resident questions. 

Maintaining the safety of those living in our community is the City鈥檚 paramount objective. Together, let鈥檚 ensure that these final weeks of summer are enjoyed safely and responsibly.
