Queen鈥檚 University announced today the appointment of Barbara Crow as dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science for a five-year term effective July 1, 2017.
鈥淚 am very pleased that Dr. Crow has accepted my invitation to lead Queen鈥檚 Faculty of Arts and Science,鈥 says Daniel Woolf, Principal and Vice-Chancellor. 鈥淒r. Crow is an accomplished multidisciplinary researcher with impressive leadership experience, and I am confident that our largest faculty will be well served by her ability to listen and develop a shared vision.鈥
Encompassing a wide spectrum of interests and expertise, the Faculty of Arts and Science is integral to the university鈥檚 mission to offer a research-intensive environment coupled with a dynamic student learning experience.

Dr. Crow has previously held a number of administrative positions at York University and currently serves as dean and associate vice-president, Graduate Studies. In her present role, Dr. Crow has worked to advance York鈥檚 Faculty of Graduate Studies by strengthening student support services and administrative coordination; expanding graduate programming; and increasing the number of student grants, fellowships, and awards. She is a former chair of the Ontario Council of Graduate Studies and used this position to lobby the provincial government to increase funding for international and Aboriginal students.
Dr. Crow completed her PhD at York University and her first academic appointment was at the University of Calgary. A feminist scholar, her multidisciplinary research interests focus on the social, cultural, political, and economic implications of digital technologies. She is currently a co-principal investigator on the (Ageing, Communication, and Technologies), funded by a SSHRC Partnership Grant.
