Queen’s annual Sustainability Week is back this year with a lineup of events to engage the campus community and promote sustainable living. The week runs from Monday, Oct. 6 to Friday, Oct. 10.

“Sustainability Week highlights initiatives both on and off campus that contribute to a more sustainable university and community,” says Aaron Ball, Sustainability Manager. “It is a wonderful way to bring students, staff and faculty together to raise awareness through fun and informative events.”

Under the theme of “5 days, 5 ways," each day during Sustainability Week highlights a different way to live more sustainably:

The week kicks off with an “alternative transportation hub” on Monday, where visitors can test drive electric vehicles. Other events planned for the week include a clothing swap, a tour of the Wolfe Island Wind Farm, a local food scavenger hunt, a screening of the documentary Wasteland, and an eco-walk at the Queen’s University Biological Station.

“Sustainability Week is made possible through the hard work of many individuals and groups on campus,” says Mr. Ball. “The AMS, SGPS, QBACC, Enactus, STRIVE, Earth Centre, and Greenovations have all contributed to making this year’s events happen.”
