Braden Hutchinson

I am a historian, high school teacher with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board and a professional research, education and communication consultant. I have been a nominee and recipient of numerous academic and non-academic awards including the Joseph Arnaud Bombardier Doctoral Fellowship, the Ontario Graduate Scholarship, the Charlotte Whitton Award, the 澳门六合彩开奖现场 Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching and others. My doctoral work is supervised by Prof. Karen Dubinsky. It focuses on the history of social, political and economic conflicts over toys in Canada. The thesis, titled "Objects of Affection: Producing and Consuming Toys and Childhood in Canada, 1840-1989" is slated for defence in September 2013. My previous work focused on the economic and political history of continentalism in late nineteenth century Canada. I maintain an active interest in public history, digital humanities, the history of children and youth, the history of play, Canadian social, political and economic history and the history of North American popular culture.
