Annie Dowd is a first-year MA student in the department of History under the supervision of Dr. Karen Dubinsky. Annie completed her undergraduate degree at Queen鈥檚 University with a BAH in History and a Certificate in Law. Her research interests include the history of gender, the history of sexuality, legal history, and 20th century Canadian history. Her intended research focuses on the gendered and sexual regulation of women in Canada and how this has been reflected and perpetuated by certain legislations and legal institutions - particularly The Female Refuges Act and the Andrew Mercer Reformatory. Additionally, Annie is interested in exploring the dimensions of colonialism, motherhood, and adoption within this context.
